These books are The Curse of the Wendigo published in 2010, The Isle of Blood published in 2011 and The Final Descent in 2013. The monstrumologist had three subsequent books in the saga. Horror lovers will be rapt." The reviewer in the School Library Journal wrote "Though the pace sometimes falters beneath the weight of Will's verbose observations, the author folds surprising depth and twists into the plot and cast alike, crafts icky bits that can be regarded as comically over-the-top (or not), and all in all dishes up an escapade fully 'capable,' as Will puts it, 'of fulfilling our curious and baffling need for a marauding horror of malicious intent'". The review in Publishers Weekly said, "Yancey's elegant depiction of an America plagued with monsters, human and otherwise, spares no grisly detail. The grieving mother of an Australian adventurer who died on Mt Everest has revealed her final words to him ‘I’ll always love you’. Print ( hardcover and paperback), e-book, audiobook I really, really hope the next book has more plot and a bit less of the steaminess that this one had. That being said, the plot IS interesting and unique in it's own right, and I do like it, but it felt greatly overshadowed by the sex. I struggled to get through it at times, and almost stopped entirely when a week had gone by without finishing it because I could only bear to listen to so much of it at once without eye rolling. I promise I'm not fickle, it just felt like over half of the book was sex scenes and the plot was just a side story manufactured so there was a reason for them to happen so often. It felt like they were nearly constant, and that's coming from someone that typically wants more of such scenes in their romance novels. I didn't think that I would ever review a romance and feel like there were actually too many "intimate" scenes, but it really did feel that way with this book. I think the book overall is around a 3, just because of what I'm about to say. I can't change my rating for some reason and it's not the correct number of stars, so just ignore it. I warn thee brutally honest review incoming. They have always whispered about the sinister power of Alinor’s beauty, but the secrets they don’t know about her and James are far more damning. If you’re not familiar, Haddish is an actress and comedian who was recently the breakout star of the movie Girl’s Trip. This little book was a breath of fresh air. I’d been struggling through a lengthy tomb of a novel and frankly needed a break. She was on a bunch of talk shows promoting this book (see here for a clip of her talking about treating Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith to a Groupon tour), and when I found out about it, it jumped to the top of my to-be-read list. It’s also inspirational and heartbreaking and unique. Her book, The Last Black Unicorn, is more than that, though. If you haven’t seen it, take a look cause it’s pretty entertaining. I first really noticed Tiffany Haddish when I saw a clip of her on Drunk History talking about the story the Monuments Men is based on. She determines to make a life in art, even as she spends enjoyable times with Cristoforo at an intellectual level. She quite likes Cristoforo because he has a lively mind and he’s interested in art, but their union is blighted by her discovery of Tomaso as her rival. She has agreed to this marriage only to escape being sent to a convent, the only safe place for unmarried girls when the French army threaten to invade after negotiations break down.
